About

What is CiteSeeing and how does it work?

At its heart CiteSeeing is a web service that provides citation information on published academic papers. We have a large (and still growing) database of details including; authors, publishers, URLs and dates.

We also have a document fingerprinting library that enables us to take a PDF document and create a small but nearly unique set of fingerprints for it. It is this set of fingerprints that we use to identify documents in our database.

We don't store the documents ourselves (although we do keep download links to them) and everyone is allowed to create records and edit existing ones. The services we provide are currently free of charge. However we reserve the right to charge for this service in the future.
